     3 Idiots tells a story of friendship three mechanical engineering students in India who started college at the university level number 1 in the country. 3 students named Rancho, Farhan and Raju. They are friends one room in the dorm since the first day they arrived at the university. Farhan and Raju is a regular student whose value was mediocre. While Rancho told a student who is a genius and always apply the knowledge that he could before and when he learned during his lecture.
     They live life as a student and have strong bonds of friendship, until eventually, in a journey they met with Pia. Pia, is a medical student who was the son of the rector of the friends of this university. Since its inception, the rector, who earned the nickname "Virus" is a lecturer of students are very rigid, cruel, intolerir, but smart. In one occasion, Rancho, criticized the system of teaching activities within the campus. Mr. Viruses do not accept the criticism Rancho, and since then, the rector who holds a "virus" into the role of antagonist in this film.
     A criticism that says Rancho is that the university ICE (Imperial College of Engineering) only produce engineers who just smart talk, no topic about new discoveries every day, there is no new discovery that it generates each year, and teaching methods that lead students to get the value very nice, but not necessarily able to use such knowledge. Even just to produce graduates who will work in foreign companies, with big salaries, but did not advance his own people. Universities do not teach science applicative but teaches how to get good grades.
     Rancho has always said to two friends, Farhan and Raju to always be yourself, not on the basis of coercion from others. Because happiness comes when we are enjoying every step we take, then success will come from that we take these steps. In criticizing the rigid system in place of his lectures, Rancho, Farhan, and Raju suffered a variety of acidic sweetness of the life of a student. Laughter and tears are always they passed along, until finally told they were out of college with Rancho as the best student on campus. Farhan eventually became a professional photographer, leaving the world of engineering, and Raju became a director of foreign companies in India.
     However, after they graduated college, Farhan, Raju, and Pia never heard about Rancho. Told in the future, eventually Farhan, Raju, Pia, and accompanied by Chatur Rancho seeking news to cross the plains of India. They finally arrived at a mansion, like a palace, and they found the Rancho. But, when they meet, it's not a Rancho that they met during their college years. Rancho has changed.
